A few things have surprised me here! Here are just a few:
1. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the hospital, sign in, get a gash taped back together, & head back to a party. It takes 3.5 hours to complete the process for purchasing a cell phone.
2. Trash is separated into combustable & non-combustable trash bins. So at McDonalds today, we had to throw the paper cup into one bin, the straw and plastic lid into another.
3. There are no paper towels in public restrooms. Everyone carries their own towel.
4. McDonalds happy meals come with a side of corn. And it was good. We finally got Ian to eat a vegetable today.
5. You can't buy a Pasmo subway pass for a 6 year old if you don't have a cell phone number.
6. You can't get a cell phone if your residence card doesn't have your address officially written on the backside.
7. You can survive in Tokyo without a cell phone for 4 days. (Even though it's 7pm and I'm alone in the apartment and have no idea where my family is!)
